Barnstaple is a beautiful and lively town situated in North Devon on the A361, 5 miles to the west of Barnstaple. The excellent shopping facilities and good selection of café’s, pubs and restaurants make it an ideal base from which to explore the numerous attractions of North Devon. Today, Barnstaple is a lively village, catering for the diverse interests of it’s many visitors. The large number of surf shops, which sell and hire equipment, reflect the status of the local beaches as a major surfing and watersports destination.

10 minutes away is the the village of Braunton - the gateway to North Devon’s Golden Coast.  The dramatic coastline and spectacular beaches of Saunton (10 minutes), Croyde (15 minutes), and Putsborough (20 minutes) with their golden sands, safe bathing and excellent surfing are all within easy reach. Nearby is Saunton Golf Club with its famous championship course.  Braunton Burrows, an area of sand dunes extending nearly 4 miles along the coast to Saunton are the largest system of sand dunes in the UK and a naturalist’s paradise, forming part of the country’s first UNESCO biosphere reserve.  The Tarka Trail is on your doorstep for cyclists and the South West Coastal Path for walkers, as is the magnificent scenery of Exmoor, Heartland, Clovelly and Appledore.

North Devon’s ancient capital is Barnstaple - a busy town with it’s High Street shops , daily Pannier Market and leisure centre. Barnstaple is approx. 45 minutes drive from Junc.27 of the M5 connecting to London, Birmingham and Bristol within a 3 hour drive. 9 miles to the north of Barnstaple lies Ilfracombe with it’s picturesque harbour and regular passenger ferry to Lundy Island.
